Alex Handrock

Alex Handrock started riding at the age of 2 and has been around horses ever since. She spent most of her riding career doing hunter jumpers/equitation, but has branched out with experience riding and training in: hunters/eq, showjumping, dressage, 3-phase eventing, ranch, reining, barrels, pleasure, and has shadowed in vaulting. She got her first horse at age 17 - a retired racehorse named Slicka that she restarted into a flat equitation horse. 

Alex graduates in December 2025 from The University of Findlay with 2 degrees: Equine Studies (Teaching/Training) and Psychology, and is planning on obtaining a PsyD (doctorate) in Clinical Psychology/Neuropsychology. While in college, she competed on the IHSA (Hunter/Equitation) team, IDA (Dressage) team, and the 3-Phase Eventing team. (Go Oilers!) She has around 700 hours in volunteering and teaching PATH Intl. therapeutic riding lessons and is working to complete her CTRI (Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor). She has experience breaking colts, restarting OTTBs, and training young horses in various disciplines. She incorporates sports psychology into her teaching and focuses on nurturing a positive environment in the arena with her students. She specializes in training riders with a variety of physical and cognitive disabilities and enjoys instructing all riders of all levels!
